yet on iran. the toughest in history under the obama administration. so, what could a romney presidency do differently than what we have witnessed? >> well, you know, there's a good argument that much of this will be political rhetoric. it clearly no one thinks that employing convention power against iranian nuclear facilities is a way to move forward. nobody want it is israelis to attack with conventional military power at this time. and by the way, i think the iranians are going nuclear regardless of the stranglehold on them. governor romney's in a tenuous position. he won't want to provide a clear alternative. the american people won't vote for a war. >> all right. so one thing i think a lot of people will remember if they've seen the now infamous secret tape. 47% remark in florida where mitt romney did discuss the current situation in the middle east and the wording he used in reference to that saying, we just have to live with certain things that are going on there. the cycle of violence that we have been seeing. now calling for beginning anew. kind of an etch-a-sketch m

. was the obama administration didn't spike the ball, because we know that there is a long way to go yet, despite the good news. it's indication that we're beginning to clean up the mess that was left to barack obama when he was sworn in. but that, no, that we're not satisfied, but it certainly is an indication, one that the republicans simply won't recognize that progress is, in fact, being made despite their efforts to try to talk down the economy, to try to sabotage any legislation that would actually put people to work. so i think they can't deny the math. >> all right. we'll have to leave it at that. democratic congresswoman jan schakowsky from the obama campaign, thank you so much for your time. >> thank you. >>> there's been a lot of talk about which mitt romney have shown up at wednesday's presidential debate. but many say they've seen that mitt romney before. coming up, we'll talk to a person who says she debated that mitt romney back in 2002, massachusetts democrat shannon o'brien. >>> sky-high, the price of gas hits an all-time record in california. will the rest of the na

people who are democrats and republicans. is there any way the obama administration could actually have cooked up these numbers? >> uh, in a short answer, i would say no. i think the last president who was accused of, and where there was evidence that he tried to mess with the bureau of labor statistics was richard nixon. since then, it is a bureau full of professionals and i think that jonathan is exactly right. we would know if there was some funny business going on there. not to mention that if they were going to cook the books, wouldn't they have done it months ago when it would have more of an impact, and wouldn't they have said the unemployment rate is, i don't know, 4%. it seems extremely far fetched. i would be shocked if we eventually discovered they had played some role in it. >> jonathan allen and anne, thank you for joining us today. stick around, we'll see you later on this hour p. >>> was mitt romney really a bipartisan governor in massachusetts? one of his old political foes joins us in the next hour. >>> and who does michelle obama think should play her husband on t

shown that the cost of obama care per family is about $2,500 more. i would instead repeal obama care and replace obama care with real reforms to bring down the cost of health care and save people money. the president indicated that you're going to see higher taxes under his administration. you already have under obama care. but that will continue. actually the vice president brought out the truth by saying he's going to add about a trillion dollars in taxes and taxes by the way, do not create jobs. raising taxes on people make it harder for enterprises to grow and hire people. i will not raise taxes on small business. i'll not raise taxes on business. i'll not raise taxes on middle-income people, i won't raise taxes at all on the american people. it's a very different approach. when the president was running as a candidate four years ago he looked at the deficits under president bush and found them to be excessive and un-american. and they're about half as large as the ones he's put in place over the last four years. he said he was going to cut the deficit in half. he's doubled it. t

president obama. >> he was an official candidate. the press was there. the speech was covered. including this station. and how does it become devicive in '12? he says that the administration was color blind, but that they clearly had dealt with the reaction to katrina wrongly, which any number of national polls said that most citizens felt, so i mean, if this is the best they've got, then i think the president's in great shape. >> so, the other tape that's getting a lot of attention, the "huffington post" releasing video of paul ryan talking about a quote, moral tipping point, in the united states, six months before the 47% comments. take a look. >> the good news is survey after survey, poll after poll, still shows that we are a center right 70-30 country. 70% of americans want the american dream. they believe the american idea. only 30% want the welfare state. >> all right, so he at least gives credit to 17% more people than mitt romney did, but how damminging is that f in to have the same mentality, considering there's a minority portion that would rather get welfare checks than jobs?

this economy and this just isn't enough? >> that's, of course, why the obama administration is not spiking the ball tonight. but we are finally beginning to clean up the mess that was created under the bush administration and the blind eye that was turned to wall street, and, of course, romney is trying to change his story, too. in the debate he said, oh, i'm not against regulating wall street. really? they're for repealing the dodd/frank bill, creating the stage that would actually take us back to where we were at the hemorrhaging of jobs. we're finally beginning to turn the corner. >> when we look at what we saw on wednesday night, the president certainly under fire for this less than dynamic performance, some questioning whether he entered this debate under prepared and over confident. as we pointed out at the top of the show, you are vice chair of the obama campaign, did you president underestimate his opponent and did it take the wind out of your sails for the work you're doing for the president to get re-elected. >> i'll tell you what, it's really hard to argue against somebo
